Great Outdoors SB/VC presents Pismo Beach Campout
May 18-21, 2017
Here’s your chance to explore one VERY beautiful piece of the central coast!
Pismo Beach was the site of the VERY first trip I ever led for Great Outdoors, so it has a special place in my heart. Its warm, sunny, and just plain beautiful for camping! There are beach walk options, playing in the surf, people (surfer!) watching, and just enjoying this beautiful location!
You can arrive Thurs or Fri, depending on your work schedule/etc. Parking is SUPER tight as always, with only room for about 10 vehicles, so PLEASE carpool if you can.
For those of you who have camped with me before, you KNOW my schedule for the weekend is very soft, and can be altered as the group votes/etc. We can just as easily break up into smaller groups doing several activities. The big thing is for us all to have a good enjoyable trip!
We have three beautiful sites, #s 58, 60, and 61, so we have plenty of space for tents, and a FEW spots for RVs. (RV Folks, contact me ASAP so I can make sure I have space set aside for you!) Each site has it’s own fire ring and BBQ pit, but we’ll be picking one site as the main spot, for evening fire time and our Saturday potluck! Running water bathrooms with hot water showers (Coin op, bring your quarters!) is just a short walk away!
Pismo State Beach-Oceano Campground is located on the central coast, about 10 minutes south of Arroyo Grande/Grover Beach, off of Hwy 1. For GPS folks, the address is 555 Pier Avenue, Oceano, Ca.
Non-GPS Directions- From points north and south: Head to Arroyo Grande, Ca. Take the Grand Avenue Exit. At the top of the exit ramp, turn to the west (left or right, depending on if you came from the north of the south!). Follow Grand Avenue west until you pass/cross the railroad tracks. This happens right before Grand Avenue crosses Hwy 1. Turn Left onto Hwy 1. Proceed South on Hwy 1, for a few miles, and keep your eyes open for the signs for the Pismo Beach/Oceano Campground. Turnoff for Pier Avenue will come up on your right, with Old Juan’s Cantina on the corner. Turn Right. Proceed West on Pier Avenue. Campground will be coming up on your right. Turn right into the campground, and check in at the kiosk. See you there!
