Lopez Lake Camp Out - May 24-28, 2018

Here’s your chance to explore and experience this hidden gem of the central coast! Lopez Lake is tucked away in the hills east of Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach, and other than a sign on the freeway, there’s little to tell you what it has to offer. So let me tell you about it!

While so many lakes have been sapped to nothing by the drought here in California, Lopez Lake is still holding it’s own at about 40% of capacity. So it’s still looking great! And it’s a CONTACT lake! You can touch it, swim in it, fish in it (with a license of course!), boat on it, and on and on! There are also hiking trails around the lake, and the Vista Lago zip line course (starting at $12 to try it out!). And if the lake doesn’t have what you’re looking for, it’s a short drive into the village of Arroyo Grande, home to wine tasting rooms, antique shops, art galleries, and more! Or, another twenty minutes down the road is Pismo Beach, with the sand dunes, with the Monarch butterfly groves, and more! PLUS this happens to be the weekend of the famous ARROYO GRANDE STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL! So if you’ve been dreaming of some fresh strawberry pie or shortcake, this will be your chance! YUM!

You can arrive Thurs or Fri, depending on your work schedule/etc. Parking is SUPER tight as always, with only room for about 10 vehicles, so PLEASE carpool if you can. Only SMALL RVs are possible on this trip, so contact the trip leader to coordinate BEFORE registering!

For those of you who have camped with me before, you KNOW my schedule for the weekend is very soft, and can be altered as the group votes/etc. We can just as easily break up into smaller groups doing several activities. The big thing is for us all to have a good enjoyable trip!

We’re camping in the Lobo loop, with Electric hookups! While that doesn’t mean RVs can hook up with A/C or anything crazy, it does mean you can charge your cell phones, perk some coffee, or run a blender for an adult beverage! We have five sites, so there will be lots of places for tents to be pitched. Running water bathroom with hot water showers (Coin op, bring your quarters!) is just a short walk down the hill.

Lopez Lake is east of Arroyo Grande/Hwy 101. The address (For GPS purposes) is 6800 Lopez Drive, Arroyo Grande, Ca. 93420. Its about 30 mins north of Santa Maria, about 30 mins south of San Luis Obispo.

If anyone wants to lead a hike for this trip or if you would like to help out on this trip to get experience with trip leading please give me a call or email me (contact info above).
